Revamped Tune..."Yesterdays Dreams".

Hi all  Open-mouthed

I've been rather busy this week reworking "Yesterdays Dreams" which was one of my first attempts of a Trance tune. Now that I have some better synths than some years ago I thought I'd see what I could do with this project. You can find the tune on this page. Lemme know what you think.

I just need to make a few adjustments to "Eureka" and "Technicon" and then my DD album will be ready for mastering. Better ask my boss for some overtime...lol.

Thats all for now,

Loves Embrace (Europican T Mix)

Hi all    Open-mouthed

Well, I spent two weeks offline which meant just one thing, and that was to have another crack at making a Trance version of Loves Embrace. So, finally here it is. Full title is "Loves Embrace (Europican T Mix)". What started out as a two and a half miniute track has turned into eleven miniutes and two seconds and the tempo is 145bpm. I used Nexus mostly and Zeta for the last sequence where there is a transformation, from layed back and subtle to all out party mode. If you like this kind of music then please let me know your thoughts on whether I did a good job or not.

I'm now revamping an old tune of mine called "Yesterdays Dreams". It will be the last tradk for my DD Album. There will be eight tracks, Either "Illuminator" and "Surfing the Rainbow" were going to be on the album but "Yesterdays Dreams" has come in at the last moment and pipped the other to at the post.

Thx for reading and listening, ciao for now,

Its finally for sale on eBay after getting a valuation from Marshall Amplification in Bletchley. You can view the page here. I used it in the 80's and when I switched it on today the smell of it warming up brought back some memories...lol. Many thx to the guys at MC Electronics, Bedford for fixing it up for me.

Thats all for now!

Marshall Vintage Amp

Hi all Open-mouthed

I've just had my 1970 Marshall Master PA amphead fixed. It's been rewired and tested and runs on four EL34 valves. The outside of it has been left just as it is to keep it authenic age. I've searched the net for anyone selling a same modal and found a guy who has a different model asking for serious offers only. Here's his page. So, I'm still at a loss as to how much it's worth, but I have had an offer from a mate. However i would like to know its true value cos I dont wanna rip me mate off now do I. Here's a piccy of it......

 Bye for now.

"Technicon"

Hi all Open-mouthed

I've been working on this track, "Technicon" this week. It now has a new lead in the first sequence, and a new kick throughout the track. Nexus vsti supplied these sounds. The rest was done with the zeta+. You can listen here. That's all for now.

I am a bit out of my comfort zone with trance but this is certainly well done and some elements are positively tasty...I'd say overall, you seem more confident in this genre ...but never stop making that reggae and jazz you do so well too!! (I am playing follow the leader with my rate for this one as have no expertise whatever for judging it but they all do (in spades!!)
      dawnsinclair - 27 May 2008

My fave of the three so far. Definitely a happy vibe and that's what trance is supposed to be about.
An easy rate for this track.
      DaveRave - 25 May 2008
You give your main genre as Reggae! You are a true Trance head though! This grabs me fron the get go with a lot of energy I always thinks there is a lot to be gained by begining with a simple drum/fx intro -and building up the energy - especially with a 7 minute plus mix - Having said that there is something to be said for hooking your listener from the outset -
The production is very crisp and in a busy mix you do well on the whole to balance the elements. Very enjoyable listen w2hich deserves a rating. Hope you will give us more trance - good one.
      MoonTurnedBlue - 24 May 2008
This tune does what it says on the tin. It uplifts, has happiness and vibtates throughout. Nice work feller! 'R'
      BERINO - 24 May 2008

very nice! right up my alley! nice intro fx, and those synth stabs are awesome too, those get me going, lol! cool arps, very interesting patterns, nice, melodic, uplifting, i like :) break is cool with all the fx. and after the break, madness, very nice! cool ending too, very well arranged. glad you joined the site, will be looking out for more from you. rating this for sure. mark

New music

Hi all  Open-mouthed

well, for the past week I've been offline due to a CPU fan error. I had to wait a week before anyone came around to fix it. However, in that time I managed to compose a new piece of music which is a Classical number and a new genre for me too. It's called "Loves Embrace" and can be played here . This is my second track using the superb synth that is Nexus.

Bye for now,

Computer Upgrades

I've just had my music pc upgraded and it's running a lot better. It now has a new ASUS motherboard with a Quad Core 2 processor, two gig of DDR3 Ram and 500 gig drive where all my song files are stored. I have a new 17 inch tft monitor and I'm just awaiting the arrival of my Axiom 49 key midi controller keyboard. The C Drive now has 160 gig capacity so there is plenty of room for loads and loads of VST instruments. I'm pretty pleased with it all. I may have to replace my studio piccy with a new one....lol  Smile

Inspiration

Hi Cicero

Thanks for visiting and posting on my blog. Nice to meet you. Joy Division were the band that I listened to that made me wanna take up the bass guitar. Peter Hook was their bass player and his sound was so rich and full that it really inspired me. Also, in the late 70's early 80's I used to go and see a lot of bands at places like The Lyceum, Electric Ballroom and Cambridge Corn Exchange. They used to have three or four bands on in one night. Between the bands setting up the DJ used to play Dub in which the bass guitar is very dominant. So I was starting to listen to people like Scientist, King Tubby, Sly N Robbie. Many years later I got into Jazz, listening to Weather Report, Yellow Jackets, Chick Corea. I like most kinds of music so I draw my inspiration form many people.

Listening wise my favourite instument is also the guitar. I just love to see a player go into an extended solo and really rock things up generaly. I like people like  Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray, Angus Young. It's all good stuff!

Victor Wooten

The chap you see there in the video is Victor Wooten, pronounced "Woot-en" His brother started giving him lessons at the age of five and by the time he was eight Victor was able to play compitently in a band. I've watched some of his tutorial videos he's made where he explains his new technique by using the thumb to play as you would do with a pick, totally different from slapping or anything else thus far. He comes across as a very humble and nice guy. Victor, I love ya man! Note

Hear or download some of my collaborations.

As I mentioned I record bass parts for other artists songs. Not all of them get published to the net but you can hear some of them at F-Jam at Soundclick. The songs I'm playing on are "House of the Rising Moon", "Coming Home", "One More Valley to Cross" and "Rhythm of the Heart to which I wrote the lyrics. Jason on Vocals, guitars and Keys. Fred on drums and percussion and me on bass.

There are other great songs on that page and remember its all done over the internet, none of the musicians have ever met. So, take a listen and if there's any you really like click the download link  Wink
